The AWA Judicial Reception, held each October, honors members of selected judicial benches. The honored benches are chosen by the Board of Directors.

The AWA Judicial Screening Committee offers candidates in all contested elections the opportunity to address the committee and the membership and to seek endorsement by AWA.

The AWA Scholarship Committee selects recipients for the AWA Foundation Charitable Trust Scholarships. These scholarships are awarded to the most deserving female student at each of the three Houston area law schools. The recipients of these Foundation scholarships are announced at the Annual Judicial Reception.

The AWA holds monthly meetings on various topics of interest to our members. In addition to earning MCLE credit, AWA meetings allow informal opportunities to share and learn from experienced attorneys.

The AWA publishes a monthly newsletter which contains news on upcoming AWA programs/events and other information important to our members.

Members of the AWA are automatically included in membership of the Federation of Houston Professional Women. The Federation, made up of 7000 professionals in over 50 organizations, holds quarterly meetings and an annual Women of Excellence Gala honoring outstanding women in the Houston area. Each year one of our members is selected to be honored at this elegant affair.
